Parks are places for community to gather, promote play, activate neighborhoods and can reduce crime. The City of Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department and the Highland Park Neighborhood Association are seeking volunteers to renovate their park!

Belle M. Turner Park, once a prairie ecosystem, was acquired for a park in 1972. From 1974 to 1976, Federal Land & Water Conservation Funds were used to create this park. Time has taken a toll and Lamar Advertising volunteers will be working from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on October 26th to build a new playground.

Join Park Staff in the afternoon at 2:00 p.m. to mulch the playground and help with finishing touches! Together, we will build a vibrant welcoming space and renew this neighborhood park.
