FREE Bike Trailer for Cleanups-RESERVE NOW!
Richard A. Clark Municipal Service Center or Gray's Lake Concessions
Thanks to Keep Iowa Beautiful for donating the first bike trailer in John Karras' name, and to the Friends of Des Moines Parks for donating the additional four bike trailers - perfect for park or trail cleanup projects. They are available to check out and hook up to your bike for a day or a weekend for free.
Please email parksvolunteer@dmgov.org at least two weeks prior to your preferred cleanup date to finalize your litter cleanup using the bike trailer(s).
This must be completed before a trailer rental is allowed.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BELOW
Here’s how it works:
- You must fill out this form and contact the Volunteer Coordinator at parksvolunteer@dmgov.org at least 2 weeks prior to your proposed project date to schedule the litter clean-up date/location and complete your full registration
- Bike trailers are FREE to use and we provide all litter cleanup supplies (trash grabbers, trash bags, etc.)
- Must be 18 years old (or at least 14 years old with parent/guardian supervision)
- Bike trailers will connect to any bike and break down for easy transportation in a vehicle if needed
- Pickup and return to the Richard A. Clark Municipal Service Center (1551 E. MLK Jr. Parkway) or Gray's Lake Concessions (closed through 2026)
- Bike trailers are for litter clean ups only
Get some miles in and do good… all at the same time!
