City of Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department

2022 Earth Month

April 1st - May 15th, 2022
Various Locations Throughout The Metro

Earth Month 2022, is a collaboration between the Cities & citizens of Des Moines, West Des Moines, Clive, Norwalk, Johnston, Pleasant Hill, Polk County Conservation, Des Moines Water Works, Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, and Trees Forever.

While historically we've hosted all our events on Earth Day Trash Bash, we continue to roll with it in 2022. We'll be hosting volunteer events throughout the month (and especially the week of Earth Day) for you to get involved, on your schedule, and at your own comfort level. We're excited you are interested in volunteering!

We know your offices are a bit different too, so we won't expect there to be Captains or team registration matching you to your normal locations. We want to make this as easy as possible for you to grab your "pod", "unit", "team" or sign-up alone. If you have a confirmed group, and you see enough openings online, let us know and we can reserve them for you.

You do you...If you aren’t ready to be around others, feel free to head out into your neighborhood and pick up trash via our self-led openings. You can still sign-up and then just share with us how much you did and where you cleaned to help our communities reach their goals.

We will help you plan ahead, protect yourself and provide you opportunities to give back to continue making the Metro a great place to live, work and play in!

In order to comply with emergency proclamations by the Governor or Mayor, as such may be amended from time to time, and as public health guidelines evolve, for the safety of staff and the public, the Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel at any time. In addition, the Department reserves the right to change the registration requirements at any time. The Department will contact the volunteers as soon as reasonably possible with such cancellation or changes.

The City of Des Moines cannot guarantee that the volunteer or any of the event attendees will not become infected with COVID-19. Volunteers and attendees use the City’s facility at their own risk.

Sorry, there are no shifts available at this time.
