2024 Franklin Community Garden Events

The City of Des Moines Parks & Recreation Community Garden Program is part of a network of organizations and agencies working to increase food security and support collaborative gardening efforts while honoring diverse viewpoints, developing respect, valuing strengths and bridging differences within our community. 

Franklin Community Garden is our largest and oldest community garden in the City of Des Moines. We rely on volunteers to keep common spaces tidy and shared tools in good condition. In addition, the community garden coordinator needs assistance hosting public workshops, and social events for community gardeners. 

Per the garden agreement, all Franklin community gardeners are required to volunteer for at least 2 hours/plot/season.
